In Riverdale every inch is occupied by the new developers. They are buying 1 family houses and turning them in to the 5-6 floor commercial buildings. They don't build enough spaces for parking, so the area is becoming very crowded. Unit costs are now more than $250.000 and up for 1 bedroom apartment, and they are built with inexpensive material. Currently they are 5 new such units and a few more will be coming up soon. The Question is: Are we going to have a second Manhattan in Riverdale???

Next house ready for demo and another commercial building will take place around W 236 str. in Riverdale.

In the past, architects, engineers, developers, construction managers, and general contractors were more likely to be entirely separate companies, even in the larger firms. Presently, a firm that is nominally an "architecture" or "construction management" firm is likely to have experts from all related fields as employees, or to have an associated company that provides each necessary skill. Thus, each such firm may offer itself as "one-stop shopping" for a construction project, from beginning to end.

The construction industry is divided into three major segments. Construction of buildings contractors, or general contractors, build residential, industrial, commercial, and other buildings. Specialty trade contractors are engaged in specialized activities such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work.
